  • ZIP code searches — when you search for plans, we log the ZIP code and service area to improve our data coverage.
  • Plan click activity— when you click a "Sign Up" button, we log the plan details, ZIP code, and device type to measure which plans users find most valuable.
  • Usage data via Google Analytics 4— page views, session duration, and general traffic patterns. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Session recordings via Microsoft Clarity— anonymized session recordings and heatmaps used to improve site usability. Microsoft's privacy policy applies: privacy.microsoft.com.

Affiliate Disclosure

Texas Energy Compare earns a commission when you sign up for an electricity plan through links on our site. This does not affect the plan data we display — all rates and plan details are sourced directly from the official PUCT Power to Choose API and updated daily. We do not accept payment to feature or promote specific plans.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate the site:

  • Supabase — database hosting (supabase.com)
  • Vercel — website hosting (vercel.com)
  • Google Analytics — traffic analytics
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recording and heatmaps

When you click a sign-up link, you are redirected to a third-party electricity provider's website. Their privacy policy governs any information you submit to them.

Data Retention

Email addresses and ZIP codes collected via the opt-in form are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Click and search event logs are retained for up to 24 months for analytics purposes.
